Fees

Choosing to take your emotional health seriously is one of the most important

decisions you can make. Investing in yourself will create lasting benefits for you

and those you choose to be in relationship with. We have carefully considered

what is financially necessary and believe our fees are reasonable and

commensurate with the quality we offer our clients.

Session fees can vary based on which therapist you choose and their availability. Generally, fees range from $80 to $200 per session, which is average for Orange County. Sessions are approximately 50 minutes long, but you and your therapist can decide what works best.  Because we have our hearts in helping people, each therapist at Monroe Therapy makes space in their schedule to help a limited number of clients who need reduced fees. Reduced fees can be discussed with the therapist, who will evaluate each situation based on financial need and appropriateness of client needs.

Payment

We accept most major credit and debit cards, including HSA and FSA.  Payments are processed using Ivy Pay, a HIPAA secure and compliant payment app only for therapists. We do not accept cash or check for services at this time.

We do not accept insurance, but will provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance upon request.

Using Insurance

If you intend to use insurance, keep in mind that Monroe Therapy does not accept any insurance or process insurance billings, but will provide you with a superbill which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If your insurance company covers mental health services, they will first apply the covered costs to your deductible. After your deductible has been met, they will reimburse their percentage of the costs to you.

It is a good idea to call your insurance company in advance so you understand what is available to you. Here are some important questions to ask your insurance company:

  • Does my plan cover mental health services?

  • If applicable, does my plan cover couple or family therapy?

  • Does my plan cover out-of-network providers?

  • If not, can they provide you with a list of covered providers?

  • Is there a deductible? If so, how much is it?

  • Is there a per visit copay?

  • What percentage or rate do they cover per session?

  • Do I need a referral from my physician?

Private Pay

Opting to pay for sessions without using insurance has the following benefits:

  • No requirement to share your personal health information with a third party

  • Cost may be similar if your insurance does not cover of out-of-network, deductible, and co-pays

  • No limit on the number of visits

  • No required mental health or diagnostic labels

  • Couple and family therapy not excluded

  • Flexibility to set your own goals and course of treatment

  • No insurance paperwork
