Christine Monroe

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Clinical Supervisor

Christine is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She works with couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy and is a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist. Christine provides clinical supervision for pre-licensed therapists.  She completed both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Clinical Psychology at Vanguard University. Prior to creating Monroe Therapy, Christine was a therapist and Program Director at Open Door Center, a non-profit counseling agency in Orange County. She has many years’ experience working in the business and administration world, as well as being successfully married since 1991 and raising three children. In addition to EMDR therapy, Christine incorporates parts work and ego state work with a lens toward relational trauma and attachment issues to help facilitate healing and growth. She is also experienced in working with couples, whether their relationship is in danger after many years  or having a rough start.

Christine's session fee is $195 per 50 minute session. She reserves space in her client schedule to help clients who need pro bono services. Please contact her to determine appropriateness and availability.

"It is my privilege to come alongside another person who is seeking healing and wholeness. I believe we are all unique and were created on purpose to take responsibility for and enjoy life as our genuine self. But often abuse, attachment injuries, relational trauma or adverse experiences threaten to bury our genuine self. The desire to be clearly seen and known by another, and then to receive acceptance and love, is rooted in everyone. Unfortunately, we start learning very young which parts of ourselves we need to hide in order to be loved, accepted and have our needs matter.

Helping individuals regain solid footing as a confident self and couples regain safe emotional connection with each other is what brings me great satisfaction and motivates me to continue to hone my therapeutic skills. I use EMDR in a creative, yet evidence based, way to make significant positive changes in my client’s lives. Together we explore the life events that shaped you to be the way you are today, re-examine any false beliefs, heal relational and attachment trauma, or remove perceived barriers to living as your genuine self."
